2011 CHARITY RECIPIENTS

Each year the Overland Park Rotary Club selects charities to receive money raised by the Star Spanged Spectacular event. The four recipients of this years' event proceeds include:

DOWN SYNDROME GUILD

The Down Syndrome Guild (DSG) of Greater Kansas City provides support and resources to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. DSG serves over 300 families caring for a loved one with Down syndrome living in the Johnson county area though a diverse array of programs and services.

HEADSTART OF SHAWNEE MISSION

Head Start of Shawnee Mission provides high quality early childhood education to low income Johnson County children, to prepare them both socially and academically for kindergarten. They prepare families to become contributing members of our community.

SAFEHOME

As Johnson County's only provider of shelter and comprehensive services for victims of domestic violence/ SAFEHOME is a safe, healing place for women and children to rebuild lives free from fear and violence.

OVERLAND PARK ROTARY CLUB FOUNDATION

Youth Leadership Institute promotes leadership skills, civic awareness, and exposure to the Rotary values. It is designed for high school students across the Kansas City area. Now in its 15th year, YLI's goal - Giving Today's youth the tools to build a better tomorrow.
